The Author: Carl Turner
I am Carl Turner, a 25-year old who went to sixth form college at Gorseinon College in the south of Wales and then studied at Trinity College, Cambridge. I am now a PhD student at DAMTP here in Cambridge, studying topics in string theory/field theory under Prof. David Tong. I'm interested in lots of parts of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics, but if you're interested in my academic work my INSPIRE profile is available.
I've worked with both Dr. Gábor Csányi - on techniques of exploring very high-dimensional configuration spaces for molecular simulation - and Dr. Harvey Reall - on analytic solutions to Einstein's equations in higher dimensional spaces. I am a co-author of a paper on this topic.
Amongst other things, I spend a lot of time playing and writing traditional British folk music. If you're looking for a ceilidh band in Cambridge or anywhere round Cambridgeshire, I would love to invite you to book Dancing Yew, or perhaps the ever-popular Cambridge University Ceilidh Band.
